The first camp!!!
The theme for this summer is “Ordanary Heros.” How God can take an ordanary person and do extraordanary things for them and through them. The Bible studies were all about the life of David. Since it was only a three day camp this time we had to fit a lot into a short amount of time but through God’s strenght we were able to fit in a lot. The camper arrived on Monday.
When the campers get off of the bus the counselors were waiting for them with open arms. From the moment the campers get off of the bus they receive love. The counselors hug them and help them get their bags to the cabins. After they are unpacked they came down from the cabins and made wooden name tags that they would wear around their necks to help us remember their names. The tags are very cool because the campers get to make them all by theirself. They take great pride in the things that they make and we tell them how talented they are to make such beautiful art. (they are so cute) After the names tags we all ate lunch together. The campers are divided into four teams. There are either one or two campers per counselor so there is a lot of help. Through out the week their team gets points for doing activities.
The fun skit in the morning is about a boy named Little Dave (played by Jeremy) and they are spins off of the theme for the day.
I think that the most funny skit was when Little Dave conqured the villians by using the power of his banjo.
After the fun skit the day is filled with worship, Bible studies, hikes, crafts, swimming, and much more!!! The campers had so much fun and learned so much about God. It was so beautiful.
Luke and Allison did a great job at loving the campers and telling them about Jesus. They helped do the hand motions for worship and they were super cute and it is not just because I am their mother. They are actually the most beautiful children in the world and I am so pround of them.
The campers everyday memorized Bible verse for points for their team. We know that they did much more than earn points thought. By memorzing Bible versed God’s word enters their hearts.
Jeremy and I were able to lead games. It was so much fun. It was a super hot day (but not as hot as Norco or Arizona) so we played water balloon games. It went very well.
One of the testimonies that stuck out to me the most was a little nine year old boy that got up at camp fire. He sat in the chair and held onto the mic. His legs were so little that they didn’t even hit the ground when he was sitting in the chair. With his cute legs swing back and forth he began to tell us that his dad was shot and that his mom is in prison. He said that he is so lonely. To be able to love a lonely child with God’s love is a beautiful thing. He is so precious to the Lord and I pray that he will someday know God’s love and receive it. The best thing that happened at camp was that three kids gave their hearts to the Lord. They chose to allow Jesus to come into the lives and to allow God to help heal the hurt that they have in their lives.
Thank you so much for your continual prayers for our family and the campers. We love you guys and know that we couldn’t do this without you behind us. Thank you!
